Messages from those whose lives were touched by Joseph's kindness and love

"Joseph Weloba. You passed on last year, and somehow my heart sensed it around that time. I thought of you strongly, then life moved forward. I didn’t know you had already left us until recently, when I followed up on a project at Inchcape and learned the news. The shock broke me. I cried deeply. Jose, you are one of the kindest and most gracious human beings I have ever met in this life. met you during one of the lowest seasons of my life. My father had just passed away. I was depressed, lost, and for a time, homeless. I left the city immediately after the burial and went to Mombasa, trying to escape the weight of it all. A friend who had taken me in listened to my story and said, “I’ll take you somewhere. These people will help you rebuild your life.” That is how I met you and your partner. You gave me a chance when I had nothing. You helped me restart my life when I didn’t know where to begin. Through your kindness, your belief, and your quiet support, I was able to gather myself again and rebuild. Because of you, I took my first flight ever. From that moment on, my life began to rise. Doors opened. My world expanded. My confidence returned. You may never have fully known the depth of what you did for me, but you changed the direction of my life. You changed my story. Why do the good ones go first? I don’t have that answer. But I know this: you were a blessing to me, and to many others in this generation. Your kindness lives on in the lives you touched, in the chances you gave, in the hope you restored. Thank you, Jose. Thank you for seeing me when I was invisible. Thank you for lifting me when I had fallen. Thank you for being part of the foundation of the life I stand on today. May the heavens hold you in perfect peace until we meet again Joseph 🙏 "

"Now I can write...Jose's life has been an inspiration. I talked about Joseph to my friends during his time here with us. I remember when his career took an upward trajectory, he invited us to Mombasa. I must have been around 10 years old. I remember thinking, 'Wow, Pizzas are being delivered to the house just for us!' 🤭. This habit of inviting kids over, i learned from him (albeit implementing in a significantly less grand manner). Last year, during Ajs event, i shared with him about my career change dilemmas, and he encouraged me with the story of his transition out of Inchcape. I thought to myself, 'yenyewe this guy is resilient'. Joseph worked hard for what he had, and he was generous enough to share it with all of us in one way or another. I was inspired a new. Joseph warmed my parents' lives (and my heart by extension) when he'd pass by their house to greet them and share hearty laughter every so often. Jose would call on a random afternoon and say, 'i just wanted to check on you, small siz'. Joseph took care of all of us. He stood up for the family underdogs (the blackship). Even when he didn't agree with an unpopular opinion, he listened without judging. In your presence, Joseph, we knew we were not alone. He supported me during my uni days. One never forgets a warm presence during a cold season. I have to mention this! If you came to my grad party in Mombasa, he was responsible for the wonderful band that entertained us properly 😊 . He showed up for little and big things alike. This is who Joseph has been, always thinking about others. I didn't know how much you meant to me until you were no longer able to say 'Ruthoh'. Your one week post SAH was a miracle and a gift to us. I thank God for the time. I have learned that our being is not guaranteed. I know you are in a better place. This is a consolation. But I miss you here, on this side, where I can see you walking in your compound across the fence. Where your laughter and smile warms the room. I miss you on this side. I want to say it's unfair that you left. But no words have been left unsaid. May you bring even more warmth and light in your new life. We have picked beautiful lessons from your brief time here. Energies do not disappear, energies transform. You have just but gone ahead of us. Dearly dearly missed and loved, big bro ❤️ "
